YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mrs. Harriet Mae Copeland, 86, who departed this life on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Copeland was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Fishing Creek, N.C., a daughter of Aron and Ethel B. Williams Kearney.
She was a 1942 graduate of John Hawkins High School, Warrenton, N.C.
She worked 19 years in the dietary department of St. Elizabeth Health Center, retiring in 1988.
She was a 66 year member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, its Deaconess Ministry for 52 years, the Baptismal Committee, Consolation Committee, Sunday School, and Young at Heart Club. She was also a member of the Third Baptist Keenagers Group.
She leaves to cherish her precious and beloved memory, five children, Jacqueline C. Currie of Austintown, Ohio, Michael B. Copeland of Florida, Colleen (Carson) Brown of Winter Haven, Fla., Van D. Copeland of Youngstown, Ohio and Maurice Copeland of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Arthur Rogers Kearney of Henderson, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van J. Copeland, whom she married June 21, 1946 and who passed away Dec. 17, 1993; a brother, Willie Ray; and a grandson, Antony “Tony” Ryan Copeland.
Services will be Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the Tabernacle Baptist Church for
Friends may call on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
