Death of Aged Colored Lady
Mrs. Caroline WASHINGTON, an aged colored lady who has been a resident of this city for many years and was quite well known, died yesterday at her home in Greggsport, after a long illness. She came here in the early 70s and has since made her home here. She is survived by her, Eli MITCHELL. [The last sentence omitted “son” or “daughter,” as the case may be.]
The funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at the A.M.E. church, the services being conducted by Rev. F.B. WILLIAMS of the Baptist church.
