Monmouth County - - I'm trying to find information about my gr/gr-gr grandparents who's last names were Schanck/Schenck and lived in the town of Tennent in Monmouth County. My gr-gr grandfather "Clark or Clarkson Schanck" was born around 1850, he married a woman named Ellen Wilson from Burlington County, and they had about 12 children. One of these children, Mary Hanna, was born in 1875 in Tennent and is my gr-grandmother. This family may have been classified as either Negro/Black or Mulatto. I know some slavery existed in that area and I've searched the Black Slave birth book and Manumission information but can't find any information on Clark or his parents. If anyone is also searching this name and you've uncovered slave information, or information on African-American Schanck's, I would really like appreciate if you could share it with me. I'm not here to judge, I just want to find out as much as I can about my ancestors.
Thanks,
