Mrs. Martha Porter Qualls died very suddenly Monday morning at 3 o'clock at the family home, No. 108 Eighth street. Death was due to heart trouble.
The deceased had been in her usual good health all day Sunday and had not complained of feeling ill. During the early hours of the morning she was seized with sinking spells and the end came without warning.
Mrs. Qualls was the wife of George Qualls, one of the best known and prominent colored residents of the city. She was a most estimable woman and held in high regard by numerous friends.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two brothers and one sister. The latter are John and Samuel Jackson, of this city, and Mrs. J. W. Gazaway, wife of Rev. Mr. Gazaway of Springfield. (Ohio)
The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
