Cardoza Ruff

Ok here is a really hard one for me.
Cardoza Ruff. b. abt 1890-1910 Black man. married Myrpalee Todd.b. 1890-1910 Black Woman. Believe they died in Oklahoma but unsure. Had a son named Carl Alexander Ruff who died abt 1980 in Sand Springs Oklahoma. Carl A. Ruff Married Elsie Rogers abt 1957/9 and they had about 10 kids from earley to late 1960's in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.

1. Carl (Mushy) Alexander b. 10/12/1960
2. Carlaree
3. Carlos David (Little Carl) b. 09/04/1968
4. CARMELITA LAJEAN (LeLe) abt 1974
5. Carol b. 1965
6. Carlanda Ross (Emo) b.08/11/1967
7. Elsie Lorane (Little Elsie) b. 06/19/1966
8. Carlton Oscar b. 09/25/1970
9. Cardell Alexander (Fat Daddy) abt 1972
10. ?

All we know for sure is that Ruff was the name of a white slave owner. He had a son with his female slave and they took the Ruff name. Cardoza wasnt born early enough to be the son of a slave owner so it was either his father or grandfather. Can anyone connect with this Ruff Family?
Black Littlejohns' of Oklahoma

I am looking for any information that anyone can give me about some of my family. I am going to post some names of family and if anyone on here recognizes any of these names, please respond by post or by email. I am, at this point, about 95% positive that I am a descendant of the Freedmen. My family is Littlejohn and Banks. I found, on the Dawes Rolls both of these names. Littlejohn is Choctaw and Banks is Creek. This is all from my maternal grandfathers side. My mother told me that my grandfather's mother looked pure Indian. She is not sure if she was, but Her maiden name was littlejohn. Now on my maternal grandmother's side, her mother also appeared to be pure Indian. My family is of white skin, colored eyes and straight black hair. But I don't know who is who or who came from where, but I believe back in the days of Freedmen, they were classified as "Mulatto." Anyway, I could go on and on because this is so interesting to me. I am of African American descent, but I would love to find out the Indian descent also. Here are the names that I have. if anyone recognizes any of them, please respond. Thanks......

Lavasse Littlejohn (Banks, Simmons)
Louis (Lewis) Banks, Lavasse's 2nd husband
Surname Noffa
Christine Noffa (Given Name) Taylor (Stepfather's Name)
Thomas Noffa
Nellie Bell Davis Noffa (Taylor)Born Jan. 11 or 15 of 1910 in Arkansas or Missouri
Fannie Littlejohn or (Banks)
I have a lot more names, I just need to find them. Thanks in advance for any information on these names. By the way, my family's from Oklahoma. Okmulgee, Muskogee, and Tulsa. Probably other areas of Oklahoma, but that is all I know at this point.

Henry O. Mariott, Boley, Oklahoma

I am seeking any information about Henry O. Mariott (African-American) and his wife, Alice Mariott, who were listed in the 1930 Boley, Okfuskee Co., Oklahoma census.

Henry, born abt. 1893, was listed as being the secretary of the Boley Chamber of Commerce in September 1934. Prior to that, he was a Regimental Sergeant-Major in the 805th Pioneer Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. Alice Mariott was an English Teacher during that same time period.

In the 1920 Boley census, Henry was listed with David W. Mariott, born abt. 1862, and Cordelia Mariott, born abt. 1872. There was also a John T. Mariott, born abt. 1894.

I am trying to find out if this is the same family as David, Cordelia, Henry O., and John T. Mayott who were in the 1900 Rhea Co., TN census. In that census, the dates of birth are almost identical. I know that the Mayott/Mariott surnames were both used by my family members in Rhea Co.

Another similarity is that in 1910 Boley, there are also a John and Angeline Marriott, along with David and family. My g-g-grandfather, John Mayott, and his wife Angline, were in 1900 Rhea Co., TN, too. John's daughter, Mariah Mayott Thompson, was my great-grandmother.

Any information about the Mariott family of Boley and their possible link to Tennessee would be greatly appreciated.

Anita Thompson-Snow

Anita Thompson-Snow

black female ISO birthparents Theresa & Raymond Burris & siblings

hi my name is Jen- . I am a black woman in search of other family members (last name Burris) in Oklahoma- I am adopted and am now finally beginning the search for my birth parents and siblings. I was born June 19th, 1973 in Mercy hospital OK city, OK 9:30am. My birth parents names are Theresa and Raymond Burris, they were married at the time and they already had 5-7 kids, as far as I know, I was the last born. I was lucky - I was not even supposed to be adopted. My birth parents signed over their parental rights and put me in the custody of a lawyer - Abe Cohen, through Social Services. I was on my way to be put in an orphanage or foster home when my mother found me. My mother worked as a nurse in the hospital that my birth mother had me in. My mother & father were told that they couldn't have kids so they were looking for kids to adopt. One day my mother saw me in the hospital nursery and asked the hospital social workers about me (I was less than a week old at the time). She found out that I was going into state custody and under the custody of the lawyer and then talked to him about adopting me. They brought me home when I was a week old and the decree of adoption was finalized Aug 3rd -1973. The judge who finalized the case was judge Homer Smith. I was known as "Baby Girl Burris". When I was one year old my parents brought me home to minnesota- and I have been here eversince. -Once again - . I am a black woman in search of other family members (last name Burris) in Oklahoma- -or specifically Ok city. If you know of them or are one of them please e-mail me back at jenigigi7@aol.com or jengigezel@yahoo.com
Thank you
sincerely, jen G
