MEBANE, Louise H. 95, departed this life May 3, 2013.
She was born March 12, 1918 to the union of Lily and Glenmore Holmes in Whitford, PA.
She graduated from The School of Nursing at Duke University.
Louise was a devoted member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and the National Council of Negro Women.
She was a dedicated nurse at London, Mercy and Community Hospitals, WPAFB and Ridgewood Nursing Home and retired after over 50 years of service.
She was the first nurse to serve at Mueller's Residential Center.
Louise leaves to cherish her memory her 4 children, Sanford (Carolyn) Mebane and Sandra Dodge of Springfield, Ohio, Holmes (Velma) Mebane of San Diego, California, and Earl (Wynema) Mebane of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Joyce Morrow of Graham, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends; family friends, Stanton "Greg" Ford and Ernie Henry who adored her as a mother.
She is preceded in death by her husband Guidner Mebane; sister, Bernice Cane; brothers, Glenmore and DeField Holmes; son-in-law Ronald Dodge, and grandson, Stacy Mebane.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. in Second Baptist Church.
Burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.
