The slave lists for 1775 and 1795 listed a slave name "Dorcas". My maternal G/grandmother name was Dorcas Williams. The fact that it is a very unusual name caught my attention.
My G/grandmother, Dorcas Williams , was born in south central Alabama around 1845,but her parents were from South Carolina or Georgia.One census says Georgia another says SC.
Dorcas could very well have been born in SC herself.
