Hi Holbrook Descendent,
I lived in Surry and Wilkes county until 16y.o. and I knew a Black Holbrook family in Wilkes county. When I was 13 I helped clean on Saturdays for Eleanor Holbrook while she was pregnant with her first child. She was married to Richard Holbrook and I think his father was Mac., but not sure. Richard had ?two brothers and no sisters. Richard built his house next door to his parents. I think Eleanor became a social worker. Hope this makes a connection for you.
Brenda
PS I am also searching in Wilkes, Surry and surrounding counties for N.C. family slaves; Smith, Gates,Brower, Gwyn
