There is exists one copy of an original Notary Public's copy of the Deeds they handled and transacted in the Town of Cheneyville.

It covers the areas of Southern Rapides and Northern Avoyelles Parishes in Louisiana.

I have fully indexed this book and it contains names of some 370 Slaves. Usually showing their ages and skin complexion and the children listed, usually have their Mother's name.
Only a few have surnames. Most of those could actually be the occupation they performed, such as: Carpenter, Taylor, Cooper, Smith, Miller, Driver.
Most entries are something like: A Slave Man, Big Mose, age 25 of black complexion; A Slave Woman, Molly, age 40 of yellow complexion and her children: Little Jack age 10, Lizzy age 8, Marcus age 5 with a withered foot, Willy age 3, Ulysses age 1 and an infant daughter, aged 3 months; Infant Slave Boy of Mary's; A Slave Girl, Sukey age 16 of brown complexion.
