The
Marietta Intelligencer says that "Harry
Bartlett, familiarly known as "Old Harry," died last Thursday evening in the 88th year of his age. For forty years he was a slave in
Virginia, and was purchased by Mr. Geo. Dana, of
Belpre,(
Ohio) in 1812, on condition that he should reimburse his purchase money by labor.---
After one years work, Mr. Dana released him from this obligation. Harry was much esteemed as an honest and upright man, and was for many years a consistent member of the Congregational Church."
