Hello Again Kassondra,

In this Document of Wills and Estate Records, Book N, 1831-1837, for Hancock County, Georgia, the Slaveholder of your Cobb Family is Jacob Cobb. He is the only Cobb Slaveholder listed during this time period in Hancock County, Georgia.

Your Great, Great, Great Grandfather was Crawford Cobb. He and the rest of his family members are listed in the July 8, 1833 Estate of Jacob Cobb, Page 300, as follows:

Louis, Man, $250; Dover, Man, $300; Bill, Man, $500; Allen, Man, $550; Hampton, Boy, $500; Phillis, Woman, $400; Caney, Girl, $350; *Crawford, $125.

*Crawford Cobb is the Father of Peter Cobb. Peter Cobb married Lou [Lula] Scott on December 28, 1886 in Hancock County Georgia (Source: Georgia Marriages on family search.org).

Thus, in the 1870 Federal Census, District 108, Hancock County, Georgia, Crawford Cobb and his Family are enumerated as follows:

Crawford Cobb, born 1825, age 45
Caroline, Wife, born 1835, age 35
Martha, Daughter, born 1854 age 16
Amy, Daughter, born 1856, age 14
Timothy, son, born 1860, age 10
*Peter, Son, born 1862, age 8
Henrietta, Daughter, age 4, born 1866
Fairchild, Son, born 1869, age 1

In the 1880 Federal Census, District 102, Hancock County, Georgia, Crawford Cobb and his Family are enumerated as follows:

Crawford Cobb, born 1826, age 54, Widower
Peter, Son, born 1868, age 12
Fairchild, Son, born 1869, age 11
Wallace, Son, born 1871, age 9
Linton, Son, born 1873, age 7
Amy, Daughter, born 1875, age 5
**Jennie, Mother, born 1815, age 65
Blanch Barnes, born 1850, age 30, Servant

In this 1880 Federal Census, Crawford Cobb and his Family are living in Dwelling # 294; and Aron(sic) Scott, born 1852, and his Wife Martha, born 1856, and their three Sons are living in Dwelling #299. This Scott Family may very well be the Parents of your Lula Scott Cobb.

No 1890 Federal Census exists; most, if not all, of the 1890 Federal Census was destroyed by fire.

In the 1900 Federal Census, Sparta, Militia District 102, Hancock County, Georgia, your Great, Great Grandparents are enumerated as follows:

Peter Cobb, born February 1865, age 35
Lula [Scott] Cobb, Wife, born June 1876, age 24

Note that even though they are listed as being married for four years, their marriage record states that they were married in 1886. Hence, the Census enumerator mistakenly listed 4 years rather than 14 years on this Census. Bearing this in mind, Lula was not born in 1876 but earlier.

Also in the 1900 Federal Census, Linton Cobb, born 1875, is now living with his Family in Durdin, Morgan County, Georgia.

In the 1910 Federal Census, Militia District 113, Hancock County, Georgia, Peter and Lula [Scott] Cobb are enumerated as follows:

Peter Cobb, born 1860, age 50
Lou(sic) Cobb, Wife, born 1874, age 36
Eunice, Daughter, born 1891, age 19

(Note that Peter was listed by ancestry.com as Cobbs, and Lula was enumerated in the Census as Lou. I made the corrections for them in this Census.)

In addition to Peter Cobb and his immediate Family being listed in this 1910 Federal Census, there is Willie Cobb, Son of Peter and Lula Cobb, and his Family living in Dwelling # 136, two doors up from his Father Peter Cobb in Dwelling #138. Also, there is a Hamp Barnes, born 1857, and his Family living next door to Peter Cobb in Dwelling #139. Remember in the 1880 Federal Census, there was a Blanch Barnes residing with Peter and his Father Crawford Cobb and Peter's Siblings.

In this 1910 federal Census, Militia District 102, Hancock County, Georgia, Peter Cobb's two Brothers Wallace Cobb and his Wife Harriet and Children are residing there as well as Linton Cobb and his Children but in different Households.

In the 1920 Federal Census, Hancock County, Georgia, Peter Cobb is married for the second time. Peter Cobb and his Family are enumerated as follows:

Peter Cobb, born 1864, age 56
Bettie, Wife, born 1883, age 37
Bettie, Daughter, born 1907, age 13
(This Daughter appears to be Bettie's daughter from a previous marriage since there is no Bettie enumerated with Peter and Lula Cobb in the 1910 Federal Census.)
Herman Son, born 1913, age 7
Sallie, born 1914, age 6
Susie Barnes, Niece, born 1906, age 14
William Barnes, Son, born 1903, age 17

In this 1920 Federal Census, Peter Cobb and his Family are living in Dwelling #242; and his Son Willie Cobb, born 1882, and his Family are living in #241; and another Son George is living in Dwelling #243 with his Family.

Finally, in the 1930 Federal Census, Militia District 113, Hancock County, Georgia, Peter Cobb and his Family are enumerated as follows:

Peter Cobb, born 1863, age 67
Bettie, Wife, Daughter, born 1890, age 40
Sallie M. Daughter, born 1913, age 17

Peter Cobb and his Family are living in Dwelling 62; next door in Dwelling #63 is Herman Cobb, born 1911, Peter and Bettie Cobb's Son. He is enumerated living with his Wife Mary, born 1912.

I hope Kassondra that this information will add to your Cobb Ancestry and confirm what has been passed down in oral tradition.

Lastly, wishing you continued success in your research,
