Classification: Query
I have recently found that g-grandmother Charlotte Dodson Beam (african american) was sold land after Civil War by Bettie Dodson Foster Williams (white). The land was next to Bettie and her mother Savilla Dodson. An adjoining piece of land was sold by Bettie to Ludwell Beam, Charlotte's son (also african american).
Another son Hines Beam (african american) also used the name Hines Foster when signing up for Civil War. His military record and pension uses both names.
I have looked for wills for Dodson and Foster that might indicate these slave names but have not found any.
Anyone have information or suggestions?
