Susie Saulsberry made her Heavenly transition on April 28, 2013 surrounded by family.
She was born August 19, 1924 to the late Arlilla (Cross) and Stonewall Bridgeforth, Sr., in Horn Lake, Mississippi. (Desoto County, near Memphis, Tenn.)
Susie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 50 years. She later joined and was a faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
She retired from Summit County, Ohio Children's Board in 1986 after 22 years of service.
She was a member of Joy Park Joyful Seniors, E.A.C.H. Theater Group, past president of Fuller Street Block Club, and very active with Big God Big Praise.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years, Columbus Saulsberry; infant sons, Johnny Lee, Thurman, and Columbus, Jr.; daughter, Shirley Ann Saulsberry, and seven siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving daughter, Wimpsey Levingston of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shannon Saulsberry, Aaron (Wendy) Saulsberry, both of Akron, Ohio, Robert (Pam) Levingston of Douglasville, Ga., Deanna Roan, Robin Levingston, Bol'Ey (Kim) Levingston, all of Memphis, Tenn.; special great-granddaughter and caregiver, Kandice Saulsberry; special nephew, Tyler Richardson, special nieces, Dr. Angela Louque, Dr. Patricia Clark; brothers, Eddie Harris (Gertrude) Bridgeforth, Stonewall (Barnetta) Bridgeforth, Jr.; sister, Glennie Clark; step-daughters, Bernice (James Henry) Kimble, of Memphis, Tenn., and Bornetta (Harvey) Newsom of Chicago, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Homegoing service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Missionary Church, 1350 Virginia Ave., Akron, OH 44306, Rev. Clifton Norwood eulogizing and Rev. Dr. Luther C. Cooper officiating.
Interment at Glendale Cemetery.
Friends may visit at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
