Wetsel, Wetzel, Whetsel, Whetsell, Whetzel, Whitsel Family: Rockingham Co., VA - Seneca Co., OH

I'm researching my family history, which connects to the Whetsel/Whetzel/Wetsel/Wetzel family of Rockingham Co,VA (now West Virginia).

The oldest relative that I have been able to identify is Daniel Whetsel, b. 1780 in VA. His first wife was Jane Townsend.

He migrated with his family to Seneca Co, OH, in the early 1800s, where he appears on the US Census from 1830. I know that he had at least 2 sons, Eli (b. 1814 in VA) and Phelix/Felix (b.1811 in VA).

Phelix was my great-great-great-great grandfather; he died in Seneca County, OH, in 1874.

This family is referred to in the census records as free persons of color. The oral history in my family says that this family was of German and Native American origin. Because they do not appear in any of the Whetsel family history that I have read so far, I am wondering if perhaps this family's members were slaves of one of the Whetsel families in Rockingham Co, VA., and/or somehow related.

Any information that you might be able to provide would be very much appreciated.

Roberson, Davison

Looking for information concerning Davison's that had children in Clarksburg,VA, the wife was Lucy (Roberson)Davison and father James Davison born in the early 1820's,in 1870 showed up in Lorain county, ohio. I understand the name may have been davidson at one time. Any info or leads appreciated.

I am researching the above names, I had a uncle George Fullwood that lived in Charleston West Virginia. He has a sister that lived with him, they called her Baby Doll, anyone with any information on this family please contact me.They were from Dublin Georgia and I am told George moved to Virginia to work in the mines.Thanks
