Arms: Silver a chevron gules between three boar's heads
crased azure with silver tongues on the chevron an antique
crown gold.
Crest: A cross Calvary gules.
Motto: In cruse salas.

SALUS WE JOHN HOOKE CAMPBELL of Banzeston Esquire LYON KING OF ARMS do hereby certify and declare that the Ensigns Armorial pertaining and belonging to JOHN JOSEPH ABERCROMBIE Esquire Planter in the Province of South Carolina eldest son and heir of Alexander Abercrombie Esquire and Ernestine daughter of James D'herent of the Province of Arras in Flanders which Alexander was son of James Abercrombie Esquire an Officer in the Service of the States of Holland and Katherine daughter of John Thomson Esquire of Kent in England which James was a son of John Abercrombie of Skeith Esquire and Mary daughter of Henry Grant of Auchernack Esquire which John was a younger son of the Family of Birkenbog Chief of that ancient Sirname ARE MATRICULATED in the publick Registers of the Lyon Office and are Blazoned as on the Margin thus Viz. Argent on a Chevron Gules between three Boars heads erazed Azure langued of the Field an Antique Cross or Above the Shield is placed an Helmet befitting his Degree with a Mantling Gules the doubling Argent on a Wreath of his Liveries is set for his CREST a cross of Calvary Gules And in an Eseroll above the Crest this Motto IN CRUCE SALUS which Armorial Ensigns above Blazoned We do hereby Ratify Confirm and Assign to the said John Joseph Abercrombie Esquire and the Heirs of his Body as their proper Arms and Bearing in all time coming IN TESTIMONY whereof these Presents are subscribed by Robert Boswell Esquire Our Deputy and the great Seal of Our Office is hereunto appended AT EDINBURGH the tenth day of August in the Year one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight.
