Located in the village of Crosbie near West Kilbride. Local legend says this is the home of William Wallace's uncle Reginald Crawford, with all the history that conjures. But reality is that the Crosbie of Reginald is probably located in Crosshouse 2 miles west of Kilmarnock. While contemporary maps no longer show it, www.old-maps.co.uk
will show Crawford Hill in Crosshouse from the mid-1800's, as well as Wallaces home of Ellerslie about a mile south of Crosshouse. The proximity of these 2 sites as well as the proximity to Ayr where Reginald administered the Shire as Sheriff makes much more sense.
