Rereading my prior message, I found that I mistakenly suggested that prospective members of the project join YSearch and tell project webmaster and co-administrator their Clan Donald ID codes. I should have suggested that they create a YSearch.org entry and tell Doug McDonald their YSearch ID so that he can enter that in the proper column of the project results tables. This will enable other members of the project to easily contact you through YSearch. Since the prior post, I have been in touch with Doug, and he has confirmed that SMGF results will not find their way into the FTDNA database and so other project members with FTDNA results will not find SMGF matches on their personal match pages. So creating a Ysearch entry is particularly important for those with results from SMGF and other organizations.
When a new member joins the project, Doug generates a Clan Donald ID code for them, so it would be impossible for prospective members to furnish Doug with such a code. I hope that I haven't seriously confused and frustrated anybody about this! If so, I am sorry.
Creating a Ysearch entry can be a little confusing, especially when one's test results are not from FTDNA. I can help you generate a good Ysearch entry using results from SMGF and other organizations.
