Walter, I would love to know what information you may have uncovered since you last posted. I found that on my Frank side, I am directly related to King John DeBaliol (Ball)and Sir William Wallace. (If the records are accurate. Still checking that.) Upon reading a bit of history into their connection and the history behind that, I learned that James the first of England stripped Scotland of it's very being as a country. Along with it, a lot of Clans were stripped and many more people slaughtered. This in the same area that I have read the Galloway Clans existed and thrived. I have also read that some clans never regained their own "Clanship" after that. Your ideas of when the Galloway clans may have actually existed, coincide with everything I have read on the subject so far. Admittedly, I am woefully ignorant of Scottish History and with what little I have read, may have just "muddied" my understanding further. I am interested in anything you have discovered regarding clan history, possible Galloway Clans and everything else about them. :O) Good luck in your research! Debra Frank Galloway
