The Chiefs of Grant by Fraser shows the Pedigree of the Grants of Carron ending with the death of Captain James Grant in 1790. As Hugh Campbell has related in earlier replies, his lineage continues in Antigua via Joseph Grant. I am interested in what happens to Effingham Grant (EH), another of his sons. I know he joins the Inverness-shire Highlanders or 97th Regiment of Foot prior to 1794 as a Surgeons-mate and he resigns on the 14th of November 1794. No record that I can find confirms his existence after that.

Records do confirm that an Effingham Howard Grant was born in Scotland in 1776 and died in Kendal (England) in 1841. EHG was my GGGGGrandfather. It appears that the only way I can confirm or refute that EH and EHG are the same person is through DNA testing. Is there anyone out there, male of direct lineage, to the Grants of Carron who has had their DNA tested? I assume that this would include the Canadian lineage of Carron and/or the Antigua lineage.
