"Og" simply means "young", and was usually used to signify one Iain MacDonald was the son of another Iain MacDonald. It was also used to identify young men, aged between 15 and 25. It is not an actual name like Neil or Angus, merely a descriptive term - but could form part of a nickname, like "Neil Og", if there were many Neil MacLeods and one needed a way to distinguish them.
