Surnames: MACKENZIE, MACMILLAN
Here is what I know about my ancestors in question:

The gravestone of WILLIAM MACKENZIE and FLORA MACMILLAN in the Elgin Cemetery of Pictou County, Nova Scotia reads as follows:

"In Memory of

WILLIAM MACKENZIE
A Native of Ross-Shire, Scotland
Died
March 11, 1868, Age 98

Also His Wife

FLORA MACMILLAN
A Native of Inverness-shire, Scotland
Died
May 15, 1853, Age 86"

WILLIAM MACKENZIE and FLORA MACMILLAN and their five children sailed from Urquhart (Port William) for Pictou, Nova Scotia on June 8, 1801 on the ship SARAH. Three of the children died at sea, probably of smallpox. The two surviving children were ISABEL MACKENZIE, age 5, and JOHN MACKENZIE, age 2, my 3rd Great Grandfather.

If the inscription on the gravestone is correct, WILLIAM MACKENZIE was born about 1770 in Ross-Shire and FLORA MACMILLAN was born about 1767 in Inverness-Shire.

I have checked the available GRO and parish records and the MACMILLAN Website to find the parents of WILLIAM MACKENZIE and FLORA MACMILLAN. Dead ends.

However, there is a WILLIAM MACKENZIE, born April 2, 1770 and baptized at Urray Parish, Ross and Cromarty, September 1, 1770.

Is anyone familiar with this family? Can anyone tell me the names of the parents of WILLIAM MACKENZIE and FLORA MACMILLAN?

Thanks for your consideration,

Bill Dorgan
