I do know some of his background.
He is an illegitimate son of John or Angus Mackintosh and "the actress" according to our family knowledge. His father died in India or Scotland and he was brought up by his grandmother Jessie Mackintosh in inverness and then In Cambridge NZ when they emigrated.

Any Mackintosh experts able to help me with my "brick wall"?

I'm looking for details of my gtgt grandfather, Hector Mackintosh who married Jane Balland ? (not sure if Balland was her second name or surname). It is likely that they emigrated to South Africa - but possibly born in S.Africa.

They had 12 children, 2 being boys: all born in S.Africa. I have the names of 7 of them:

* Emily Alice "Eppie" Mackintosh b.19/01/1867 d.09/07/1953, my great grandmother, married James William Thomas "Jim" Marwick b.1866. They lived in the Richmond area of Natal, South Africa. James was born very shortly after his parents and brother arrived from the Orkney Isles.

*Harriet Mackintosh who married John Marwick, brother of JWT Marwick above.

*George Mackintosh

*Willie Mackintosh

* Barbie Mackintosh

*Nellie Mackintosh

* Elsie Agnes Mackintosh who married David Humphrey Jones

And 5 other girls.

Have you made a connection to Angus Mackintosh of Moy Hall, Windsor, Ontario? I think I may also be connected to him - my 3xgr grandfather was Arthur McIntosh, b in Canada in 1792, d 1860 in Thorold, Welland Co, Ontario. I have a lot of information on Angus but so far no listing of children. Would appreciate it if you have information to share. I will gladly share what I have collected on Angus of Moy Hall if you wish copies.

I'm looking for any and all information on Angus MacKintosh from Moy Hall--he founded Moy Hall in Windsor in 1797 and named it after his Scotland Home Moy Hall. He was married to Mary who died in 1827--Angus died in 1833 in Scotland. they had 14 children. I belive 1 of his son's is my Great-Great Grandfather.

I'm still looking to breach my 'brick wall'.

Looking for information about Charles Daines Mackintosh. He was born 1849 in Inverness,Scotland. When he was 6 years old he arrived in Auckland New Zealand with his relations. Does anyone know his Scottish background ? In 1873 he married Emma Kinniburgh.He died 1923 in Wellington New Zealand. Thanks

Charles MACKINTOSH, m Susanna Marschalk, was a NY Merchant and listed as "died at sea" while returning from England to NYC. His father, as I understand it, was Phineas MACKINTOSH, m 1722 Elizabeth Alsop. Phineas, in his will dated Aug. 24, 1731,in NY"Abstracts of Wills Vol.III, 1730- 1744, he, Phineas references his brother Joseph's son Phineas "or any other son as my brother shall send to this country", which seems to indicate that brother Joseph was still in Scotland or England. I am interested in when Phineas came over and from where.

Dear All:

This thread/topic is intended as a forum for the
Clan to post their Notices and the Clan Associations
to post their web sites, notices of meetings and
gatherings. Even Newsletters ( by permission of the
Clan officials) are permitted here.

The correct procedure for posting here is to:
A: do a reply to this message. Erase the subject heading
above and then >
B: enter the name of your association and connection
to the clan.
C: Follow on postings are then replied to that unique
association. I would think that subject and dates
would then be appropriate subject headings.

The intention is to allow the Clan to have a thread
and each respective association to have a thread that
it can maintain with its newsletters and notices.
That way the basic thread of the association can be
referenced by URL in emails and other web sites.

Please forward this message to the Clan headquarters office,
its international associations and
other affiliated groups that may be interested in
posting here. Posting this notice to the Surnames message boards
and Surname mailing list or sending to Secretary of the
Clan, the Clan Associations and the Septs of the Clan
would also be appreciated.

Please start a separate sub-thread under this
thread ( just do a reply) for each Clan ancestor.

The thread on this board (and the mailing list) is intended for
comments, hints on how to locate, and discussions
on those distant ancestors ( sometimes brick walls) that are
very hard to locate. Anyone with knowledge of the
Clan Ancestors or searching for ancestors and especially
the Clan Genealogist are especially encouraged to post
their finding on the Clan ancestors.

Please do not use this board for merely looking for
recent descendants. That function is better in the
Surname message boards and mailing lists.

Use the standard procedure in the subject header of
inserting your family ancestor information in the following format
NAME > location > dates
