WILLIAM JAMES MIDDLETON
On Friday, August 11, 1989 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Mr. Bill Middleton of Winnipeg, age 88 years.
Bill was born in Crathie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and came to Canada in 1923.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary and two brothers and two sisters in Scotland. Bill leaves to cherish his memory his brother in law Raymond Mackie and his wife Esther as well as nieces and nephews here and in Scotland.
Bill had been employed with the Continental Can Company and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. He was active in local Scottish Societies, Aberdeen, Banff and Kincardineshire Associations, Sons of Scotland, Scottish Athletic Association, White Heather Concert Tours. He was honoured by mayor Juba for his contribution to amateur sport. Bill was an honorary life member of the Masonic Lodge, also a volunteer driver for Meals-on-Wheels.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 14 at 1:00pm at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Service to terminate at the chapel with cremation to follow.
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Pallliative Care Unit, St. Boniface Hospital; also Dr. Weinerman and staff in Oncology. A special thanks to two great friends, Jack Sweeney and Fred Ferrier for their help.
In liew of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., R3C 2B7 or to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit.
