Connie:

I'd really love to thank you for your reply to my post, and for taking the time to do the lookup for me. It is from the kindness of strangers that I have garnered some of my best data and leads.

Since I made that post in 2000, I have been to KY twice (2003, 2004) for family reunions and research. There is never enough time, and I hope to go back in 2006. This is what I have been able to locate:

1) Marriage bond for Robert and Pauline YOUNG;
2) Marriage bond for Pauline's parents Mahala and George GASKINS;
3) Marriage bond for Pauline's sister, Nancy ("Nannie") and her husband Warner SMITH (their children were Tom b. 1879, Mary E. b. 6/1881, Joseph P. b. 6/1886, and Jewel R. b. 1/1899; by 1930, Jewel was living in Covington, KY with her husband, Robert JACKSON, and her mother, Nannie);
4) Cemetery for all of the above adults;
5) Locations and photographs of headstones for all of the adults above, with the exception of George and Mahala GASKINS;
6) Death certificates for Robert and Pauline YOUNG;
7) Census records for Mahala GASKINS through 1900;
8) Census records for Robert through 1930 (Pauline died in 1917);
9) Census records for Pauline's sister, Tillie FERGUSON;
10) The identity of Squire FERGUSON (one of Tillie's sons);
11) Marriage bond for second marriage of another of Pauline's sisters, Anna B. DAWSON and David GREEN;
12) Census records for Robert YOUNG, his parents (Lewis & Mary Jane), and brother Elymas YOUNG;
13) Marriage bond for Elymas YOUNG (b. 10/1856) and Milly CHITTISON (though it looks as if they did not marry, and he married Minnie CHITTISON (b. 6/1861), instead!);
14) Lewis YOUNG & family's whereabouts in 1870 (Lewis was a laborer and Jane was a housekeeper for John McKINEVAN in August of 1870. The boys "Lymas" and Robert were living with them, as well.);

I have been able to find various other records, but I am still on a quest for:

1) The parentage of Lewis (b. abt. 1833 in Montgomery Co., KY) & Mary Jane YOUNG (b. abt. 1837 in Bath Co., KY);
2) The final resting places of Lewis & Mary Jane YOUNG;
3) The final resting places of Elymas (sometimes spelled Elimas, Elinas, or Linas) and Minnie YOUNG;
4) Marriage and death records for Tillie GASKINS FERGUSON and John FERGUSON;
5) Death records for Lewis & Mary Jane YOUNG;
6) Death records for Elymas & Minnie YOUNG;
7) For those who were likely to have been slaves, namely Lewis & Mary Jane, I would cherish their manumission records!
8) To connect with living descendants of all of the above!

Again, Connie, please allow me to thank you for investing your time. Since I am so far away from the heart of where these records are housed and where my ancestors are buried, it means an awful lot for someone to take the time to assist.

I have managed to find a lot on my own, but am ALWAYS open to a helping hand.

May you be richly blessed!
