Searching for any information on Michael ( Matej )MICL, born in possibly Trebon about 1861. He arrived to the USA in 1879 and married Rosalia Rezab in July of 1880. Fathers name Joseph, also looking for Mothers name. Other possible surname connections are MICKEL,MICKAL,MICKLE. The daughters of Michael and Rosie would have married into the Solner,Stech,Wisden and Crosby families.
Upon arriving in 1880 Rosie Rezab lived with the JOHN FLACKSH (according to the 1880 US census).
Any info would be appreciated.
thank you for reading this post and hoping someone can shed some light on this family.

sandy

Hoping someone can help me....need help in determining what the correct spelling of this surname could be. The census of 1870 shows it as PLAHASH and the 1880 shows as FLACKSH. John and Catherine came to the united states in the mid to late 1860's with their son Frank. I cannot remember the exact spelling of the surname and cannot find them in any of the other census. They should be somewhere in the chicago/cook . Can anyone help in knowing how the bohemians would have spelled this name any other way ? Thank you

I need help with a mystery. Robert Krivanek was my grandfather. He had a brother - Joseph. They lived in Chicago from at least 1900. I can't find Joseph in any census. According to what I have found, Joseph was never married. But then I have a funeral record for their father (John Krivanek, died February 17, 1927) that matches an obit from the Denni Hlasatel except for one detail. Elizabeth and Agnes are listed as daughters in - law and Rose, Elsie, and josef are listed as grandchildren. My uncle, Raymond Krivanek would have been 5 years old and is not listed, neither is my grandmother - Lillian Krivanek.

The funeral record lists Joseph Krivanek at 1426 W 18th Street. But I have not found him in the 1920 or 1930 census.

My great grandparents on both sides of my family came from the Czech Republic (Bohemia) around 1900.

Adolph POLACEK & Otilia DUB, married in New York and eventually settled in Chicago where Adolph's many brothers and sisters lived.

Frank BEDNAR met Mary VESELY in 1905 in Chicago and married. Mary's brothers Charles & John had also immigrated. Frank & Mary moved to Stevensville, MI in 1930. We are unsure if any relatives came over with Frank. Family legend has it that he fell out with his family and never spoke of them (but we don't know when that happened). We also think that there is a connection to the GRAF family.

CHRAPKO, WILBOCH, SCHRADE

I am searching for any information concerning my husband's father's family. I am having a lot of difficulty as his mother was married several times after she was widowed sometime between 1908 and 1910. The names are:
IGNATIUS CHRAPKO m. ZUZANO WILBOCH. They came to America from "Hungary Bohemia" in 1902 or 03. By 1907 they were living in Chicago. They had two children, Ignatius b. 1902 and Marie b. 1900. in 1907 a third child was born in Chicago, Jozef. He only lived for 5 years then died of diphtheria. In the 1910 census, Zuzano is listed as "Sophie, a widow". They are in the 1917 Chicago city directory but after that, I can't find them. My father-in-law said his mother was married several times and he took his step-father's name, Schrade. If any of this is familiar, I'd love to hear from you.

Also, any ideas on which of the Catholic Churches in the near west side of Chicago, around North Avenue just west of the Chicago River might have been a "Bohemian Church"? Thanks, Karen

He had been a coal miner in Bohemia and this was his occupation in the US. He ended up in Pana, IL, where he died. He was very musically talented and had a family band in Pana from abt. 1912-1920. His parents were Vaclav Zahradka and Barbora Jounglova. I am looking for any other Zahradkas who might be related.

They had 7 children all born in Illinois: Lottie, Frank (my grandfather), Bessie, Elsie, Anna, William and Otto. They lived in Chicago and later moved to Downers Grove. Marie SLIVKA lived with them until her death (sometime in 1920). Any suggestions as to where I might look for more info would also be greatly appreciated.
