No problem, I was even sent a draft notice back in the 60's! My husband's grandfather's name was Stanley Sharkey in the USA but of course that was changed at some point of him entering America. According to US Census's he came to America in 1896 and was Lithuanian and on the 1910 US Census he was listed as 32 which would make him born 1878. The Census says he was naturalized as an American but we are unable to find that no doubt due to the name change. One person who scoured the Ellis Island records came up with a Stanislav Scharke who left Hamburg, Germany 2 Feb 1896 on the "Prussia" and this was the man who came from this town S veks na, Russia. The age of this Scharke was listed as 23 so there is a 5 year difference in the census and this passenger record. The 1900 US Census has our man born March 1875 and listed as Stauna Sharkey. You can see my dilema at trying to find this man. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Georgea Sharkey Note: Stanley Sharkey ended up in LaSalle County, Illinois, USA in 1896.
