Latin translation in burial records - curjeant and matronifa

I have come across the burials of two of my ancestors and the records state "thomas bacon curjeant" and his wife as "Mary Bacon matronifa or matronisa". The writing in the record was not good hence I may have mistranscribed. Has anyone any ideas what curjeant or matronifa may mean in this context?
