The Woman's last name was "Herrera", documented by ? Davis in his book- "The Truth About Geronimo". She was from El Paso, Texas. The anglo man did not know how to spell the name correctly. She was the Spanish-Apache translator for Mangus, and documented as very intelligent. Unfortunatley we do not have her first name or who her people were.
EVERY mexican or spanish woman has "Maria" or abbreviated Ma. in front of her designated name, Ma.Aurora, Ma.Rafaela, etc. A group of the Herrera's left El Paso about 1863 and went to San Antonio Texas. Hope this helps.
