Coushattas of Louisiana

I am looking for the Coushatta link in my husband's family. Have found tons about the A-C of Texas (I am originally from SE Texas myself).

Anyone know of any good sources of LA Coushatta genealogy info? I know of the Elton/Kinder area reservation; I am not seeking any compensation from enrollment in the Coushatta rolls, which I understand are closed anyway.

My husband's family are McGees from the Basile/Eunice/Mamou area; very close to Elton. Family legend is that Willie McGee (b 1890) first was married to a native American. His wife died very young and he remarried twice; my husband is descended from this first wife. Previous posts show a Clarene Celestine married a male Breaux (cajun name) around the 1950's, so perhaps the families are connected.

Other lines of my tree go back to the 1400's so getting stumped with my husband's great-grandmother is driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
