Does anyone have connections to the following names. Also, would someone be so kind to do look-ups for me in Cherokee lists or history books in your possession? These persons could have Cherokee connections in KY, AR, OK, and TX.
I am researching my husband's side of the family. When he was a small boy, his grandmother told him his great-great grandfather was full blood Cherokee. His name was John Hiram Six, b. abt. 1850 in Independence Co, AR, d. 1876.
John Hiram grew up in the household of Wm R. Six, (b. abt 1824 in KY, d. abt 1912 in TX). We don't know John Hiram's mother's name. She may have been full blood Cherokee and may have had three Cherokee children before she married Wm. Three children show up in AR census records for Wm's household who were all born before his two marriages of record in Arkansas:
Emiline Six, b. abt 1845 in (?) (m. Franklin N. Dodd)
Nancy Caroline Six , b.September 28, 1848 in Independence Co, AR, d. April 02, 1915 in Madill,OK (married W.H. Dodd)
John Hiram Six , b.abt.1850 in Ind. Co, AR, d.1876 in Oil Trough, AR (married Mary Ann Casey)
Oil Trough, Independence Co, AR is located on the Trail of Tears and on, or near, the Arkansas Treaty Cherokee Lands.
Mary moved the family to Pioneer, TX after John Hiram died at the early age of 27. Children of John Hiram Six and Mary Ann Casey (they would be 1/2 Cherokee and 1/2 Irish):
Willie Virginia Six , b.Jan 03, 1874 in Ind Co, AR, d.Aug 12, 1908 in Pioneer, TX (m.James Walter Stewart)
Thomas Six, b.May 26, 1876 in Oil Trough, AR, d.Mar 04,1964 in Maysville, OK(m. Effie Dale Elmore)
