monet/monette marriage to cree indian chief's daughter in Quebec

I am looking for information on:
Jean Baptiste Monet marriage to a Cree Indian princess in Quebec. mid to late 1800s. Am primarily seeking to establish the Cree identity of his wife.
In later years they moved to Northern MI, supposedly during persecution of the fur traders (lower peninsula) with a son and his family, and used the name John Monette. This son had 13 children, but the son's wife died when the youngest was born, he did not remarry, but had his parents and his wife's parents (european descent)living with him on a farm in Northern MI. The son was more educated than typical of the day, and had worked for a railroad prior to the farm. If any of this sounds familiar please get in touch.

I believe that all the Native St Aubin’s are Malicite not Cree.

There was a group of St Aubin Natives in Maine and in New Brunswick and Quebec. I bet if he immigrated to NY he was from Quebec.

My St Aubin family came from Rimouska area; of course you can find the marriage records all over Quebec up and down the St Lawrence River and into New Brunswick up and down the St John River.

In earlier years (before 1860) most records I found were under Thomas. There were a number of St Aubin families in the Rimouska area who went by Thomas, Aubin and St Aubin.

There was one family of Native St Aubin from Becancour, Quebec. Noel St Aubin was having children around the 1840’s, I believe this family only went by St Aubin.

Check out this site.

http://www.avcnet.org/ne-do-ba/who_help.shtml

They non-profit group help me confirm my connection with the St Aubin and the Thomas surnames.

Patty

Austin Cree surname?

I'm looking for my gg grandmothers family. Her name was Marie Theresa Austin she married Noel Thomas St Aubin (Malicite) at Cacouna, Quebec in 1860, she was a minor. She was a Native it doesn't state this on her marriage record, but she is called Native in some of her childrens baptism records (Rimouski to Chicoutimi). (My g grandfather Francois, Theresa son left a reserve about the age of 16.) Her parents were Eitenne Austin and Marie Anne ?. I can not find any records of any Native in Quebec or New Brunswick with the name of Austin. I have found a Etienne and Marie Anne in Betsiamites, and Postes du roi but the the years 1843 and 1844 are missing, this would be the time of Theresa's birth. There seems to be Austin Natives in BC and the US.
Also there is a Eitenne Austin (B.1842) in the 1901 census at St Pierre du lac, Rimouski. Could this be her brother? I can not find any record of him or his family.
Thank you
Patty
All the knowledge my boyfriend has about his family past is that his father was given to his grandmother anonymously. his birth certificate says "Baby Boy Jones" can we get any more general than that??? Anyway, his father was adopted and named Michael Carl Whalen. MCW apparently had a child with an Indian woman with the last name of Moskwa (I don't even know if that is spelled correctly). MCW's adopted mother took custody of the baby and named him Michael William Whalen (my boyfriend). MWW's grandmother passed away when he was 10 leaving MWW with a stranger and no knowledge of where he actually came from. He was under the impression that he has Sioux heritage however, upon researching his information, the word "Moskwa" is Cree. I know I may be embarking on an impossible quest, but you never know what you may be able to come up with until you try. MWW was born in Detroit Michigan in 1969. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. THANK YOU!!!

My gr-gr-gr-grandfather was a Cree Indian chief from Canada.
He traded his eldest son away,(my gr-gr-grandfather),
because hr didn't want him to become chief later. The son
was adopted by my family, and given an english name,
Henry Baldwin. In a 1920 US census Henry listed himself as
a French Canadian, even though he was a Cree. My goal is
to find Henry's Cree tribe in Canada, and hopefully his Cree
Indian father's idenity. He listed himself as a French Canadian, so I thought Quebec might be a good place to
start. Any suggestions?

Hi Gary, Saw your message on the message board. I am a little bit curious to know where you got that information about Francis Medrick being part Eastern Cree Indian and also that he was born in upstate New York. Do you have legal doctuments to prove this. I happen to be related to this same Beaudreau Family. Do you have a marriage record for Francis Medrick and Clemence (or sometime called Clementine La Rose? I have copies of Francis Medrick's father's civil War Papers. His name was Francis Placide Beaudreau And he had been married twice. His first wifes name was Nancy Fenette and second wife was Lea Theriault. Francis Placide's parents were Laurent Beaudreau his second wife Marie Louise Gauthier. My Great-grandfather Joseph was a cousin to your Great-grandfather Francis Medrick. By the way, Your Francis Medrick was married twice that I have found record of. He was married to a Caroline Preauix. They had two daughters and one son. Myrtle, Gertrude Charles. I have a copy of a Marriage record for Myrtle and it gives her parents names as Francis Medrick Beaudreau and Caroling Preauix. Birth place given for the bride was Dancy Wisconsin. The information given to me was that Clemence Rose had died in Wisconsin. But you say she died in South Dakota. I also have a copy of Bert M.Beaudreau's marriage record to Ernistine Thursten. It gives the names of Bert parents as Francis M. Beaudreau and Clemence Rose. Birthplace given for Bert is Dancy, Wisconsin. If you would care to exchange information with me, my e-mail address is beau@inreach.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
Juanita
