The Bunts or Buntje family, by oral history, left Holland and came to New York before the Am. Rev. war. I can first document my branch in Ohio ca. 1860; and the family are members of the Dutch Reformed Church & told census takers parents were b. N.Y.
I am working on the hypothesis that the Bunts family of Harmonious, Jane, Jacob & Conradt, who settled on the Hudson river are the ancestors of Harmon A. Bunts b. 1838 Ellsworth, Trumbull Co.OH. I am minus information on the intervening generations.
There is probably a connection to the later Harmon Bunts family that settles in Wisconsin.
Is anyone else working on this family?
