Hello,
I'm researching the Mayernik/Majernik side of my family and when searching for info about my great-great-grandfather, Andrew/Michael Mayernik, I came across a baptism index listing for an, Andreas Michaël Joannes Majernik, baptized in 1857, with a father named Joannes and a mother with the name Maria Akaÿ. I have also located several other children of this couple in the same index.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V1Z9-HCLI don't know if this is my great-great-grandfather or not but he would have been born around this time period considering that my great-grandfather, Stephen Mayernik, was born in 1885.
I was wondering about the surname "Akaÿ" or "Akay"
Is it a common Slovak surname? Every search that I have done on the surname usually points to it being Turkish....
which is interesting considering that I recently received my AncestryDNA results with 14% Persian/Turkish/Caucasus heritage. Perhaps the name is Roma/Gypsy?
Again, I don't know if this is even my family, but I don't know much about my Slovak side. If it helps, my Andrew/Michael Majernik married a Mary Bednar (according to my great-grandfather Stephen's Social Security Application).
Any help or opinions would be appreciated.
Thank you kindly,
Mark Mayernik
