Hi Bernadette,
I suggest you send an email to the North Hertfordshire branch of the CTC [Cycle Touring Club] [see http://www.stevenagectc.org.uk/ ]to see if they can shed any light on who Wendy was and suggest ways of contacting her or family locally. They have a magazine and could also give the name of a newspaper that covered local area so you post your appeal to them.
My own local paper is sent all over the world to expats and many read it via their web site so wherever Wendy or her family are it will give the best chance of finding her.
