I have been working on a book for about 12 years regarding Diamond City -- one of the early great gold strikes in Montana. A Jack or John Thompson is reputed to be one of the discoverers of Confederate Gulch ( early October of 1864) Little can be found about this Jack Thompson although there are seevral Jack & John Thompsons listed in the Federal Censuses of 1870 to 1890.
