My ancestor, John McCampbell, emigrated from Ulster to the Borden grant in Virginia in 1753 with all of his family. We found the name to be Miscampbell and John Miscampbell had deeds in 1714 and 1753 to a portion of the townland of Ballintaggart in County Down. He signed the deed of release in 1753 with the signature John McSkamoll. We found the same signature when he witnessed a will in Augusta County, Virginia in 1758.
We have found Miscampbells in Ulster, Scotland, England, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Also a few in the U.S.
