Sometimes folks don't ever show up on the records. It depends upon his dependant's notification and register of his death with the SS Admin to receive benefits. If he had no dependants, it's possible he was never registered as deceased. They don't really have a policy of updating automatically when a death records is issued. The death record has to be filed with the SS Admin. But, if you can get his SS# from somewhere else, employment records, burial records, some death certificates...then you can use that number to order the SS Application. Good Luck
