I am trying to fill out the forms to requesst the pension records for several of my ancestors. This may be a dumb question, but in the beginning of the form, one of the boxes you must answer concerns whether the person's service was Volunteer or Regular.
How would I know? I'm afraid if I take a guess and am wrong it will result in my not getting the records. I wonder whether it's something as simple as that if it was Volunteer, the unit listed on the index would have "volunteer" in it. As opposed to something like, Company D, 14th HAA. Regiment...........
Anyone know for sure?
