I wouldn't know where to start. My great grandmother on my mother's side was the Venetian Countess Carolina Balbi Valier. The family palace "Palazzo Balbi" is the present sede of the government of Veneto. The Balbi's are Patricians of Venice which means original founders of Venice. Rumors have it that the Balbi family descend from Augustus Balbus Emperor of Rome by his first wife Julia sister of Julius Caesar... who knows... I do have a family tree that dates back to 1100 I think... In any case the Balbi Crypt to this day is located at the very center of Rome near the forum. The Balbis merged with the Valiers who were doges of Venice twice (via Silvestro Valier and Bertuccio Valier) and in Genoa produced Cardinals and statesmen. Cheers!
