Found in a local thrift shop (Mount Vernon, Wash.) -- approx 6x4 oval hand colored photo mounted on tin of two little boys. On the back is a paper that says "My brothers Algot & Bertil Edeen".

There was an Edeen family with these two on the 1930 census in Everett, Washington. Sons of Charles & Alma Edeen of Sweden. Siblings were Kenneth, Helen & Edna.

Roger Family Bible

I'm hoping that someone will locate my husband's family bible. William ROGER died in Telluride, Colorado in 1940, and his wife Maria Christina SENA passed away in Durango, Colorado in 1941. According to Chris's Uncle Don, who was about 13 at the time, he gave the Roger family bible to a Mrs. WHITE in Telluride for safekeeping, and was unable to return to retrieve it for many years.

Names in the bible would be William ROGER, born in Lonmay, Scotland in 1866, and it would probably list a previous marriage to a Cora Isbell CANFIELD.

Hello,
I have old photos of different families. I have collected these for my art projects. I would like to see if I have photos that belong to a family out there, first. I know I would love to find photos of my family members, so I hope there are people out there who are looking.
Email me and let me know if maybe these long lost photos belong to your family. Some photos have cities on them, and first names or initails. Also some have the studio where they may have been taken.
I will not use them for a few days in hopes of finding family members.
Most of these photos are cabinet cards so I would think they are from the late 1800s.
The names I have mentioned are written on the backs of the photos. I hope to here from someone soon.

My father dug up a small silver object a few years ago and I'd love anyones ideas on what it may be. Ive dated it to 1889 and assayed in London from the hallmark. Its 7cm long and a tapered slightly flattened conical shape. Its narrow end has a small ring so it was designed to be hung from somthing. The other end flips open to allow access inside. On the top of the lid is engraved a swan like bird with wings sticking up and a fierce almost serpent head! Any ideas?

I have a set of wedding goblets that my father acquired at an antique auction.
There are two - one with the name Lula Mae and the date of 11-7-32 - the othe r has the name Lemuel and the date 11-7-32. My assumption is that they are wedding goblets. I have searched through every marriage record outlet I can find - to no avail. I've also search death records - birth records and the like. It's a bit tough without a last name!
If anyone has any information with regards to these names or the date - please let me know. I'd really like to track down any ancestor/s and get these goblets into the hands of a family member. Thank you!

I purchased 3 photos of a young girl with Marguerite Baightel written on the back of all three. I believe she was the daughter of Tad A Baightel and Mary E or C Baightel. Tad was born in OH in Dec 1864 and Mary was born in NY in Mar 1870. They had another daughter named Vesta or Vester who was born in May 1896. Tad died 13 Oct 1918 in Cuyahoga, OH In the 1900 census, the family was living in Collinwood Township, Cuyahoga Co, OH and in 1910 they were in Cleveland Ward, Cuyahoga Co, OH.The young lady appears to be about 6-8 in the pics. I have an original 5”x7” photograph of “Lemuel Owen, Clifford & Floyd Owen, Virginia Owen Hutchrons & Mrs. Owens”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Maquoketa (Jackson Co.) Iowa, in about 1910.

I found the family of Lemuel C. Owen in the 1900 census for South Fork (Jackson Co.) IA, showing Lemuel C., born Jun 1867; wife Jennie E., Feb 1870; Clifford, Feb 1892; Floyd C., Apr 1895; and Virgie E., May 1896.

Engagement Ring

I have been researching the genealogy of an engagement ring that was given by a family friend--Cecilia "Cecil" Read Powell--to my grandmother's aunt--Anna "Tanna" Bushnell Read. My grandmother gave it to my mother and my mother gave it to me. It has an inscription of initials and a date inside the band and it took me a while but I believe I have found the couple belonging to the initials. Now I am curious to see if I can find any living descendants of their relatives. It appears that those most closely involved with the ring have no direct living descendants.

I have an original studio photograph of “Ella Franklin Fell, mother of Grace and Delos Fell”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1910, and she looks to be about 65-70 years old.

In the 1900 census for Rockford (Winnebago Co.) IL, I found Delos Fell (born Aug 1883), Grace Fell (Oct 1886), and their parents Thomas and Elne. Elne was born May 1846.

I found some family Bibles given to a Mrs. Owen Lair from Newton, Iowa dated October 1961. Also one inscribed to either Dove or Dave from a Lee R Giddings from Pleasant View Baptist Church. I have no idea where this church is located. Another Bible is to Miss Helen Lair from M/M Don Hesson in July of 1957. Then another Bible to Helen Meredith from her husband Dennis W Meredith on her birthday 2 april 1960. I am assuming the former Helen Lair is/was Mrs Dennis Meredith.

I recently purchased a copy of a newspaper photo of a 4th & 5th grade class at the Oliver School in So. Bend, Indiana - dated 1904. I bought this at an antique shop in So. Bend, IN. I enjoy rescuing lovely old original pictures and even newspaper copies like these from antique shops and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them.

The picture is 10" long by 6-1/2" high, and is in good condition It states that it is from the collectioin of Mrs. A. A. Aldrich, 1216 E. Altgold St. (So. Bend), the former Esther Rosander. The names of the students are John BLONDELL, Golden CLARK, Philip kULLENBERG, Helen KULLENBERG (who later married H. Olson, per the article), Franklin STEVENSON, Delno MOSSHOLDER, Stephen BIRO, Lillian BOWMAN, Martha BERGER, Esther ROSANDER (married to A. A. Aldrich), Irene JOHNSON, Agnes, PETERSON, Elmer, PETERSON, Esther HOLTH, Marie HICKEY, Waldemar YOUNGQUIST, Carl VAN GUNDY, Marie REEVES, Gertrude ANDERSON, Theresa HOAGLUND, and Esther STRANBERG.

I'm not a Harrison relative, but was browsing in an antique store the other day and found a very small baby book for Jean Louise Harrison. She was born November 25, 1923 in Martinez, California. Her parents are Edwin Stanley and Helene H. Harrison. There is a beautiful photo on the cover of the book.

I'd like to find a direct descendant of this family and return this book to the family.

I recently purchased about 30 old photographs on ebay and most are marked from Chehalis, Washington, and Oregon. The three that are written on the back are cabinet cards with the names, Lillian and Lucy Seely, Clarence Seely, and the last one reads, "A Merry Christmas to Robert and Alta From Rene and Katie" a little hard to read, it's wrote in pencil. If anyone had a connection with this family you are more than happy to have these wonderful old photographs. Hope there is a connection.

I recently obtained a family bible originally started by Joseph Harry Wheeler and his wife Mary Ann Brooks, m. 1880. The marriages, births, and deaths recorded in the bible took place for the most part in Iowa and Wisconsin. Dates range from 1862 to 1961.
Surnames listed in the bible are Brooks, Collins, Green, Klahorst, Merick, Murphy, OBrien, Odermann, Risse, Toby (?), Touhey, Wagner, Wheeler .

CROOKS Family Bible - Glasgow....

I have a Bible which belonged to a Crooks Family of Glasgow .
The Bible contains Birth Marriages and Death information from mid 1800s untill approx to mid 1900s....
It is a large well used Pulpit Bible containing even a lock of hair and some small sundry papers which may mean something to the Family Historian....
I have had the Bible over twenty years (originally hoping to trace the family) I never did get around to doing this untill a few years back....
I know the father Archibald Crooks was born in Edinburgh and moved to Glasgow (I have had contact with a very distant relation.)...
This relation feels I should continue with my search for a closer relative in order to send the Bible 'Home'
I am not looking for any payment for this treasure just the satisfaction of finishing a task and uniting some family with their own Family History written in love etc....
Many names are connected to this family of Crooks
I would welcome any interest whatsoever in it.....
Unfortunatly I confess I have been asked to send it to various researchers who could or would not satisfy my need for facts relating to this Crooks family before I let it go.
It is a valuable peice of research....

Found in an antique store in Westerville, Ohio. Two cabinet cards of young men by Zanesville Art Co, Muskingum Co Ohio. Written on the back: "Charlie Herron" and "Perl Herron".

In 1880 I see a Pearley Herron son of Frederic and Sarah Herron. And nearby a Charles Herron son of Andrew and Elizabeth Herron.

Found a small Bible at a yard sale in Fredonia, Chautauqua Co., NY that has the following transcription: "Christmas 1889 To Tilly from R--all". There is a handwritten Bible verse and then another transcription: "This Bible given to Ivy Miller 1929 from John Smith". In the back of the Bible are many handwritten birth/marriage records that include the names Ivy Ann Miller and Raymond Elliott (remarried to Mathew Usselman),Emma Ann Neal, Arthur Miller, Eliza May Miller and many others. Require only that interested party can prove relationship to the Miller family or one of the others mentioned. It will be my pleasure to return this family heirloom to its rightful owner.

I have acquired an 1864 family Bible with family history of the Doyle family included. A letter mentions Porter Co. and Valparaiso. The Bible itself is in poor condition with only the front cover and most of the pages. Mentioned: Hannah Lawson married James E. Doyle, 1867; John Harrison Doyle married Claudia Faught, 1901; Mary Hilbreth married William Harrison Doyle, 1838; their children were: James, John, Amos,Gabriel,Herman, William, Andrew, Mary, Elsie, and Sarah whose married name was Daniels.

Trying to find some information on a honey tin I have. The label on it has the name Walter Swetlishoff, Grand Forks B.C. along with the usual weight, grade and type of honey written on the label. I measured this tin with the Doukhobor jam tin I have and it's the exact same size, just different labels. I assume he used to sell this to the public? Families I am researching are HENEGAR, IVEY, SMIDDY, HOUSLEY, and TURNER (Turner only because one of the men in one of the photos is labeled in another photo as Frank M. Turner, Michigan). While browsing in antique shop on April 14, 2001, I came across a VERY old photo album with photos taken mid to late 1800's and VERY early 1900's. There are quite a few and several of them were taken at a photo parlor in Knightstown. This is a very elaborate album with the photos inserted so that you can't see the backs and there was no writing beneath any of them. Also in the album were two ribbons commemorating the REEVES family reunion. One of them took place in Charlottesville. One was dated 1906 and the other within a couple of years of that. I had been looking for family and finally denise came along and we made arrangements and they are in her hands to check and see if any one she knows can find them a home. I am glad to pass them on, because they had no names of the people on them , and i did not want to dispose of them , possibly someone in that area will know these pictures. I have 2 old books with the DeBoth name in them. The first has Geo. DeBoth, Dec. 12, '87 (1887), the second Marjorie DeBoth, 1914. I did a little research and found Marjorie to be George's daughter. George passed in Lake Co., Ca., Marjorie Deboth Phillips in Orange Co., Ca. I would be happy to pass the books on to a family member if they are interested. The books are in fairly good condition for their age. A neat bit of family history. Just let me know.

I have purchased/rescued an old cabinet card style photo of a young adult man. He is identified on the back of the card as Charlie Wyant OR Wyants. This is a small photo, measuring about 1 1/4 X 1 3/8. The card which the photo is affixed to measures 2 3/4 X 2 1/8. The photo is in very good condition, with no damage and a clear image. The image shows this young man with a white shirt, open jacket and a hat perched on his head. He has dark hair, with a part down the center of his head. Stamped on the back of the card is the following info: “W. C. Bell, Photographer, 21 & 23 Broad St. Hornellsville, N.Y. I try to rescue any old identified photo which I find. OLD SCOTT CABINET CARD PHOTO FOUND

I have purchased/rescued an old cabinet card photo of a man named Ed. W. Scott. On the back of the card, it is written, “Cousin Ed W. Scott to Emma L. Scott, Spencer, Mass.” Below that, in another handwriting, it says “Cousin Warren”. This photo does have some damage. There is a crease along one side of the image, but not on the man himself. Mr. Scott is standing in front of a rather elaborate backdrop and has his right hand near a very elegant pitcher, which is sitting on a small table with 3 legs. It is a full body image of Mr. Scott. I try to rescue any old identified cabinet card photo which I find. My first goal is to save the photo by finding family or another safe haven. Precious few of these old photos are identified, and they are lost forever. So, if Ed W.
