O'Neil mystery in S.A.

My great grandfather Patrick O'Neil arrived in South Australia by 1860.

No convict records match him & I can't find him arriving interstate - so he must have been an immigrant.

Around 1858/59 several men by the same name arrived here & I have not been able to sort out which one he is.

I know he fathered a son (my grandfather) in 1861 at Myponga S.A.

The mother was Elizabeth Ann White - I've been unable to find any information on her.

Patrick remains elusive & after many years of searching I still don't know where or when he was born , where or when he died or is buried.

I know he married Catherine Gillies & lived around Willunga & Port Elliott. Their marriage certificate dated 1863 gave me no additional information - no parents & no ages were given.

At one stage I thought this mystery solved with a death certificate of Patrick from County Clare born 1835. But it was the wrong man. Since then I've purchased another 2 which do not fit my man.

I am now down to just 8 possible Patricks!

I just wish we were able to view those death certificates before we purhcase them. Some have no useful information on them at all - just the partner's name - if that!

If the number of living & deceased issue are not on the certificate - it will be difficult to prove that I've found him.

Any ideas as to how to find MY Patrick?

I am looking for information regarding brothers, Patrick O'Connor and Terence O'Connor, who immigrated to New South Wales probably in the late 1800's. They were the sons of Thomas O'Connor and Johannah Horan from Fahaduff, Castleisland, Co. Kerry. I do not know much about Terence, but I think Patrick lived in Kempsey. They are brothers of my Grandfather John (Jack) O'Connor who never left Ireland. My grandfather had one son, Thomas Joseph O'Connor (my uncle), who immigrated to in 1912 and went out to these uncles.

Another Son Mathew James KILPATRICK also came to Australia but not on this Voyage Also other children of George and Janet but as yet I have not yet discovered when. SWAN, STEWART, RANDELL, MADDISON, WALKER

I would be ecstatic if I found another person or persons who were researching
these names and could make connections for me or any help that any one could give me in continuing my family search. I can be contacted off list if preferred

thanks in advance,

Kaye Kilpatrick
Melbourne

I am trying to find information on my ancestors who arrived in Australia from Ireland. I have conflicting information on the date they arrived here. I have them arriving on the ship 'The Rattler' in 1852 and another entry suggests they arrived in 1840. Can someone give me a site where I can look up The Rattler? I have tried ships lists and a few others, but they don't mention this ship at all.
Name of family members are: John and his wife Elizabeth and a son named Ogle James Moore. Not sure on other children.

If anyone can help me, I would truely appreciate it.
