Border Crossings from USA to Canada, and Back

I am looking for a source of records that would list any border crossings from the United States to Canada and back around the 1920’s. I have one family that was in Kansas in 1916 and they have a child that was born in 1919 in Canada and by 1930 they were back in the United States in Kansas City Missouri. The sister of the father and her family I am unable to locate in the 1920 census, they should have been in Iowa but they just vanished. I am suspecting they went to Canada so she could help the sister-in-law with the birthing of the child.

The father would be Ira Jones b.1885, mother Gertrude Jones b.1887. They had two children going to Canada and three coming back. The sister was Mary Riddle b.1890 and husband John Riddle b.1882 they had three children but one stayed with an aunt in Iowa.

Does anyone know where the various border crossings were during those years. I know one was around New York but that is it. During those times did you just “walk” across. If so where would I look for any information on the birth of the child for confirmation. Thanks for any help.
