I have been on Ancestry.com for just seven months, so my research skills are still very limited. My great grandfather, Andrew Johnson (Andreas Johansson), was born on 28 May 1827 in Narunga, Alvsborgs lan, Sweden. His brother, Charles (Carl), was born in Narunga on 21 Oct 1835. The Swedish Church Records show the two brothers emigrating from Brolycke, Siene, Alvsborgs lan on 11 Apr 1871, but someone on a Swedish message board said he believes that that date is not their actual date of emigration, but rather the date when the parish office learned that they had emigrated. Andrew's American naturalization papers show that he arrived in Boston in June 1871, but older members of the family have said that the brothers worked as stone masons in Canada (Quebec?) before coming to the US. I heard they worked on bridges which were reportedly still standing many years later. Any advice or clues would be much appreciated!
