Edward Jaeck born in 1815 in Soufflenheim Alsace Lorraine. Son of Francois Joseph and Catherine Von Hatten. He married Madelaine Schlosser in 1841. They had three children, Valentin, Louis* and Gustav. Family legend has it that he first settled in Pennsylvania and later moved to Woolwich Township and attended. St. Boniface Church. Later he moved to East Zorra Township and attended Holy Family Church in New Hamburg. In Canada, he married again to Margaretha Groh from Kossuth. Margaret was born on June 12, 1837. She was the daughter of Conrad Groh and Cebillia Deider. Edward and Margaretha had the following children, Gustav, Henry*, Philippina (Bena) married a Kauffman?, Antonette (Nettie) married a Kauffman?, Edward, George moved to Bad Axe Michigan??,Xavier (Frank)*, Magdalena*, John*, and Clemens*. Stars indicated that I have traced these families.
Also Edward's sister Catherine married John Bitschy and settled in the New Germany area along with a brother Joseph who married Josephine Mockers who settled in the Walkerton area. Also I have a two stray Jaecks, Philip, son of Philip and Catherine, born about 1866, who married Helen Roth, lived in the New Germany area. Frederick, son of Michael and Elizabeth, born about 1860, who married Catherine Diegel.
The surname has changed over the years. Our branch uses Yeck but other possible spellings are Yaeck, Yack, Jaeg, Yacht etc ...
