Forgive me for the slight correction but the two main movements were in 1883 and 1884. The migrants were from Benbecula and South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. There was just one 1882 'prospector' on behalf of Lady Gordon Cathcart, who owned both the islands, and that was Donald MacDiarmid of Aird, who was the proprietor's agent in the matter.
There were at least three MacPhee families. I remember one case of a John MacPhee from Iochdar, S Uist married to an Effie Campbell but they were rather older than the two folks you are looking for.
If you care to e-mail me, I will let you have details of the two who would have been children at the time of the move. I also have a description of the progress of each of the families in their new home and I will happily copy you anything of relevance from that if you would be interested.
