There was an article written in the New York Times on May 5, 1905 entitled "3,100 More Aliens Come -------- The New York, Umbria, and Blocher Each Adds Heavy Quota to Immigration Tide." The Umbria brought approximately 800 passengers "to swell the alien tide which has been flowing uninterruptedly into this port for the last ten days." It's a rather lengthy article but if you had family arriving on one of those ships, it's definitely something worth having for your family history. I'll be glad to make copies of the article and mail them to anyone interested. Send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
, provide me with your address, and I'll be happy to send you a copy of this article in its entirety.
