you have helped point me in the correct direction.
I have someone on the 1876 ship who seems to have been german born (according to his death certificate).
I am wondering when the emigrants went on the ships - did they have to have anything to prove who they where, and where they were born and their correct names?
He ended up in South Australia for around 7 years with his wife and the remainder of his life in NSW. He voted in NSW, so it is believed he would have had to be naturalised or be a british subject.(which, I am not having any success in finding).
Him and his wife became foster parents to my husbands grandmother. And her biological parents are a mystery.
I don't know anywhere else, I can search from in NSW.
