Surnames: Banaszek
My grandfather, Anthony Banaszek’s naturalization papers (he was naturalized shortly after he enlisted in WWI -May 20, 1917) state that he left Antwerp, Belgium on August 12, 1908 on the Vaterland, arriving in New York City on August 24, 1908. He was born on June 13, 1894 (Lomza, Poland), so he would have been 14 years old (would he have come over by himself?). I’ve searched Ellis Island for my grandfather by name and nothing even close. I’ve searched by ship, and the Vaterland does not have any listed sailings in 1908-checked passenger lists for 1906 and 1907, nothing even close to my grandfather. Checked the Vaderland, no dates of sailing for August 12, 1908, but checked everything around that time. Still no grandfather. He did have a brother, John Banaszek (DOB June 24, 1883) that immigrated to the US in 1904 (according to Census) and I can’t find anything on him coming to the US either. My best guess is that Anthony came here to be with his brother, John, who lived in Forest City, PA at minimum from 1906-1911 before moving to Saginaw, MI in 1912. My grandfather lived with John in Saginaw on the 1920 Census. From John’s death notice, no other relatives were mentioned in the states other than his brother, Anthony; mother and sisters were in Poland (no mention of father). My grandfather Anthony didn’t have a death notice published, so nothing to be gained there.
I also can’t find either of them on the 1910 Census, so I have a huge gap in time with information that seems to be dead ended. To the best of my knowledge, our last name, Banaszek hasn’t been changed, short of the common misspelling.

So am I missing something, or is there somewhere else I can look? Or maybe they both floated over on a raft? 
Any tips, help or speculations are appreciated.
