Hello. My grandmother arrived as a child in New York on 7 Jul 1887 on the Rhynland. The port of departure is listed as Antwerp, Belgium. Does this mean that the ship did NOT come from a German port first?
Since my grandmother's family was coming from around the Brno, Moravia, area, I assume it would have been a more difficult journey to get to Belgium than to either Hamburg or Bremen. I've looked for internet articles about the definition of port of departure without success.
Second question: would the departure lists for Antwerp be available, similar to the Hamburg lists?
