Lois,

I use ancestry.com ;-) - A premium (full)subscription that gives me access to the Swedish Emigrant records. And if you know how to spell in Swedish (as good as possible) or know what to look for, it's quite easy. I'm rather experienced by now, after years of doing research on both sides of the 'ditch' and it sure helps if you know where the different parishes are located (or nearby). And I'm Swedish, that helps too.

Sometimes however, when you need to verify a record or locate an individual back to a parish, I use Genline.se. It covers all you need (almost) of church records in Sweden. But it helps if you know a lot about the person, it's impossible to look for a person in "Stockholm". You have to know where they resided. Even in smaller parishes, the records are divided into a certain 'pattern' of the village and it can take 'forever' to go through all those houselholds unless you know where to start looking. But that's (as far as I know) the best resource EVER in Sweden.

Let me know if there is anyhting else you need to know! I'd be glad to help!

Do you have enough of their past in Vastervik? Or are you still looking for someone?

Sunny greetings from NM,
Susanna
